GROUNDWATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT IN COASTAL REGIONS OF CHENNAI CITY, TAMIL NADU, INDIA – CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

During last decade, it is observed that the groundwater polluted drastically because of increased anthropogenic activities. Groundwater samples were not collected from Chennai City, Tamil Nadu, India. All the analysis was carried out using AR chemicals using double distilled water. The pH, EC, TDS, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, bicarbonate, carbonate, sulphate, hydroxide, fluoride, hardness, DO, nd BOD were analysed and compared with the WHO and ICMR standards of drinking water quality parameters to classify the water is suitable for drinking purpose or not.
