Chennai: Corporation Starts Monitoring Mosquito Breeding at Cooum, Adyar and Buckingham Canal

The Greater Chennai Corporation has begun monitoring in real time the breeding habitats of mosquitoes as part of its vector control management system at Cooum, Adyar and Buckingham Canal. Aimed to curb the city’s mosquito menace, the corporation has begun studying spots in the three water bodies to understand the mosquito breeding pattern and larval fluctuation through the year. Seen in the video, workers spraying larvicide in the Cooum River to destroy breeding habitats. The civic body has also started desilting Cooum River as part of the eco-restoration project.
